Guitars

Another key factor when researching 1970's was the instrumentation used, in particular, the guitars used at the time.

Angus Young, the guitarist with the rock band AC/DC, used an early 1970s' Gibson SG, as seen in the picture. Due to this, it was decided that a 1974 Gibson SG was going to be the guitar of choice for this project. The guitar is also pictured.

Once this choice was made, it seemed relevant to do a comparision between the 1974 guitar and a 2015 guitar. Both of these guitars are Gibson SG standards.

Interestingly, the vintage guitar has less harmonic content in the high-mids/highs than the modern production model. With the popularity of these vintage guitars being so prominent currently, it was expected that they would be harmonically richer than modern guitars but this didn't seem to be the case.
